Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee signed three new AI-related measures into law earlier this week, including a therapy chatbot ban, a chatbot self-harm safety measure, and law requiring medical providers to disclose the use of AI to transcribe clinical sessions.

Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced the new policy late last week. In a related move, his government will increase funding for the use of more books in classrooms, instead of computer tablets. “The most important thing in school is that our children learn to read, write, and do mathematics,” Støre said.
